The hall, near Norbiton Station, was formerly used by the YMCA and has been completely refurbished over the past 2 months under the direction of the Shiraz Mirza Community Hall Trust set up to manage the project.

Councillor Shiraz Mirza The hall is set to become a focal point for all the communities based in the Royal Borough.

Councillor Shiraz Mirza, who was the borough's first Asian Mayor and whose brainchild the project is, said "This facility will be a multi-cultural hub for many of the borough's residents, community and voluntary groups, providing an affordable venue to hire with excellent facilities. It is offering something that Kingston really needs: a venue that is ideally suited for a wide range of social, business and training activities. I sincerely hope that the hall will encourage the further development of community cohesion and will enhance the role of the voluntary sector in the Royal Borough."
